установка postgre

postgresql.conf в указанной директории есть?
initdb делала?

initdb сделай...

по этому мануалу  делаю: http://www.grape-info.com/doc/linux/config/postgresql-7.0.2.html

файл postgres вот тут: /usr/bin/postgres
/etc/init.d/postgres - этот не существует

при попытке создать юзера:

-bash-2.05b$ createuser dbuser
Shall the new user be allowed to create databases? (y/n) y
Shall the new user be allowed to create more new users? (y/n) n
createuser: could not connect to database template1: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
        Is the server running locally and accepting
        connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
